Car sharing is a phenomenon that's quickly taking off here in the U.S. The idea is simple: a car-sharing company purchases a vehicle, and then charges a small fee to someone looking for a convenient way to grab a set of wheels for the weekend. That being said, Ford sees the value of such services, but also the opportunity to make it work for drivers who already own a car as well.

How so, you ask? What if a car-sharing service wasn't run by a company, but rather by you. That's the idea behind Ford's new car-sharing service in London, which relies on owners just like you to put their cars up for rent -- when you're not driving it, of course.

The idea is simple: if you're a driver and are in need of some extra cash, you can list your car for rent. Ford then lists you car as available to rent and screens renters in order to ensure they're reliable. After that, sit back, relax and let the extra money roll in.

This is an awesome idea, and one that we here at Bailey Brothers hope to see come to the United States. That being said, for now your next Ford Escape, Fusion or Edge is all your own, but one day you might be able to earn from extra cash by renting it out!
